IELTS Preparatory Course
This Preparation Course provides students with the essential skills to tackle IELTS. In our class, students will have the opportunity to ask questions and ask for feedback on their learning progress.

Course Content
Listening
Aural skills:
- Identifying the gist of conversation or monologue;
- Extracting specific factual information;
- Identifying speaker roles
- Following directions and instructions
- Making inferences

Speaking
( Part 1)
- Introductions
- Introducing yourself, habits, routines, interests, topical responses

(Part 2)
- Individual Long turn
- 1-2 minute presentation on a given topic
- Skills, successfully developing your ideas and opinion

( Part 3)
- Two way discussion
- Ability to discuss a range of everyday topics in a conversation style format

Reading
Techniques:
- Identifying the gist of conversation or monologue
- Finding detailed factual information in a passage
- Making inferences
- Distinguishing between fact, assumption or opinion
- Understanding text organization
- Summarising information

Writing
Techniques:
- Organise and present information
- Make comparisons between two or more sets of data
- Describe how something works
- Explain a process or procedure

Learning Objectives and Outcomes
Students are expected to:
-Fully understand the assessment requirements of IELTS;
-Demonstrate the full range of examination techniques to maximize band scores in reading, writing, listening and speaking;
-To developed the confidence to perform well in the examination;

Recommended for:
Students who need to obtain an IELTS score to enable them to study overseas courses or meet special workplace and/or benchmark requirements in Hong Kong or abroad.

Lesson Planning:
In class: This course is taught systematically and sequentially. It reviews those topics which will be included in the test such as English reading, writing, grammar, comprehension, listening and speaking. Exam-taking skills will also be taught in order for students to enhance their performance in the exam.

Quizzes and Dictations: In order to ensure the students are capable of applying their knowledge, students will have small quizzes or dictations in every class.

Examination: There will be two mock examinations throughout the course.
